The downside is that it's very pricey, in my opinion, too pricey. Camtasia has never, ever crashed during a recording, that said, it's well worth a try. Some freebies I've used tend to crash after X-amount of time, ruining a tutorial completely and causing me to start over. It's very easy to create a tutorial with, as I've done with Gimp so many times. I found the recording level clarity is great compared to most. There are free alternatives but for functionality and flexibility,I would suggest using Camtasia. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to capture some games when playing, well, many but it's still great for all other recording needs.
I was lucky enough to get a free license for this and yes, it's everything you want in a screen recorder.
